Military Researcher (Part Time)

Location: Remote

  • $50 AUD per episode.
  • Volume: 150+ episodes available.
  • Flexibility: 1–2 episodes per week
  • Platform: Hiring and payments will be managed through Upwork.
  • Work Arrangement: Permanent WFH.

Role Overview:We are seeking a researcher with a strong background in military history to assist in sourcing visual content for our podcast. Your primary role is to listen to episodes, identify the historical context, and independently curate a high-quality library of relevant imagery and footage to be used in our YouTube productions.

Responsibilities:

  • Listen to podcast episodes to deeply understand the historical narrative and context.
  • Independent Research: Proactively source and download appropriate high-resolution photos and video clips from public archives, historical databases, and open-source repositories.
  • Perform basic photo enhancement, including resizing, cropping, and basic color correction or colorizing black-and-white images.
  • Organize and upload all curated media assets to Dropbox, ensuring they are labeled correctly for the production team.

Requirements:

  • Subject Matter Expertise: A solid, demonstrable understanding of military history is essential.
  • Advanced Research Skills: Ability to independently navigate digital archives and find specific historical equipment, figures, and battle locations without pre-provided links.
  • Basic Photo Editing: Proficiency in simple image adjustments (e.g., resizing and color enhancement).
  • Attention to Detail: Ability to select 30–50 relevant, high-quality images per episode that accurately reflect the spoken content.

Process:

  1. Listen: Review the assigned podcast episode.
  2. Source: Independently research, verify, and download 30–50 relevant images and video clips.
  3. Refine: Edit and enhance the images to meet quality standards.
  4. Deliver: Upload the organized asset folder to Dropbox for the video editors.
